Granada, Mijas and Gibraltar
We are finally halfway through the trip. Am I missing home? Maybe a lil bit. Am I missing ‘work’. Hell no… It’s nice knowing that I am away from work, just enjoying each day. Its quite tiring to pack and unpack each day but was definitely a wonderful way to recharge myself with my lovely best friend, Irman.
This time, we head to Granada. It is home to two of Spain’s most famous Unesco World Heritage Sites: the gardens of the Generalife and the exquisite Moorish architecture of the Alhambra Palace. One thing we were amaze of is : how do they built this kinda huge towers without advanced machinery? And, they have all the patience and time to carve the intricate designs (I believe by hand). Within the Alhambra Palace, we visited the Generalife Garden. This garden was believed to witness the beheading of 36 young warriors just because one of them was seen talking to the Queen (secretly, in one of the garden) on the night of a party held in the palace. Just a legend, don’t know how true this story is. Well, this place is a Gardens galore – an extravaganza of colors, textures and sights. Definitely an indescribable beauty.
At Mijas village, we were intrigued by the beautiful panoramic view of this place. It is one of the famous traditional ‘white’ villages in Spain, overlooking the Mediterranean sea. As we enjoyed the scenic view, we tried this snack by the roadside – made of Almond/Peanut, Sugar and Honey. Sweet and crunchy!
Finally, we get to the Border of Spain and off we go to Gibraltar! Amazing how they don’t need your passport – to chop. We just had to show our passport to them as we walk, like we are some FBI agent. If only we can do that to get into JB, cos Nadz’s workplace is just 5 minutes away from the Woodlands Checkpoint. Boohoo. At Gibraltar, we visited The Rock that has a church in it. Wait till you see the interior – you will be amaze by it. By night time, we arrived at Seville just to rest – much needed sleep.
