Peniscola and Valencia
Next up, we went to Peniscola and Valencia.
In Peniscola, we were so grateful for the sun! Its cooling and sunny at the same time. If only SG has such climate, amazing huh? On another hand, the landscape look like Greece – maybe we shall visit Greece next year? We had a great seafood lunch over by the bay followed by some free time to walk around before we head over to Valencia.
At Valencia, we head over to the City of Arts and Science. We were gawking in utter awe and amazement at this futuristic architectural paradise! It really feels like we have been shuttled to another planet of tomorrow. Later, we had night city tour. We were quite disappointed with the fact that it was done after the sun sets.
Hence, we can’t really admire the whole city that is suppose to be very rich with colors. 🙁
As we toured the city centre, we tried their churros (no doubt its yummy – I think its the real taste of churros as compared to those we tried in SG) and this special cold drink that Irman keeps on saying its so nice and refreshing. It is a typical Valencian drink made from ground ‘chufas’ (tigernuts), water and sugar. Simple ingredients right? These tiger nuts are not nuts at all. They grow on the ground (like a potato) – said to be very healthy, they help to prevent hearth attacks, thrombosis and activate blood circulation. Due to the high contents of soluble glucose, they prevent cancer and lately some discovered that these tigernuts reduce the risk of suffering colon cancer. The very high fibre content combined with a delicious taste, make them ideal for healthy eating. Woah. We had only a cup, should have tried more! Oh i think i didn’t mention the name of the drink – Horchata.
After the night city tour, we enjoyed a traditional Valencian Seafood Paella Dinner. Its something like Nasi Goreng/ Fried Rice (Spanish version). One thing for sure, we gained a couple more kilograms… 🙁
Adios!!
