Barcelonaaaaaaaaa
So, this time, we wouldn’t wanna miss a thing – die die must document almost anything worth remembering!
This year, #irmanadz conquer Espana, Portugal and Andorra! We were stuck in a 16 hours Emirates flight (via Colombo, transit at Dubai). Definitely not the most pleasant way to start the journey (being jetlag and all). Not forgetting, we had a neighbouring passenger (man in mid-thirties) who pee-ed on his seat! We pitied the next passenger who is gonna use that seat! He must have been sleeping so peacefully that he didn’t even notice he needs the lavatory!
Anyways, our first stop was at Barcelona (2 nights at Abba Hotel).
Day 1:
Upon arrival, we were too tired to carry on for the tour. But we managed to go for the La Sagrada Familia (Roman Catholic Church that is still under construction for another 10 more towers. It gives you the feeling of glory and majesty in all aspects, the ‘goth’ look etc), Park Guell (Garden complex with architectural elements situated on the hill of El Carmel, designed by Antoni Gaudi.) and the Montjuic Hill(gives a spectacular view of the city and harbour).
Day 2:
We went to Monastery of Montserrat followed by a bicycle tour around the city centre of Barcelona (Las Ramblas). The Montserrat offers an indescribable view up of Barcelona. By noon, we had our free time for cycling. Cycling was fun (when tyre is not deflated la). Halfway through, we had to detour back to the staring point due to unforeseen circumstances. We cycled too far…. that it will take hours to push the bike back. And it couldn’t fit into the cab. So, we decided to take the Metro with our bikes! We got stares along the way but who cares – we need to get a change of our bike! Yes, we did something only forgivable for tourists!
PS: Thank you for being the most ‘sporting’ boyfriend ever la – he carried the bikes up and down the stairs/ escalators within the metro stations before we were asked to ‘exit’ the metro station. Oh wells.
After we got a change of bike, we head over to Barcelona Beach, Casino Barcelona and back to La Ramblas to return our bikes. And guess what!!!! On the streets of central of Barcelona (1.2 km long tree-lined pedestrian mall between Barri Gotic and El Raval), we bumped into the newlyweds – Zab and Eva! We were suppose to meet at the Magic Fountain in Montjuic at 7pm that evening (without any form of communication – data roaming etc). We returned the bikes and cab over to the Magic Fountain together.
PS: We didn’t manage to get to Camp Nou – Barcelona FC Stadium! Such a disappointment.
